About
Hi, I’m Kelly - founder of Chasana.
Until 2024, I was a loyal Irish breakfast tea drinker and one of the very few who never developed a taste for coffee. But while travelling the world, I started searching for another hot drink that I could enjoy. Other breakfast tea drinkers will understand the pain of ordering tea with milk abroad, it’s just not the same outside Ireland.
That quest led me to matcha. I began noticing it on a select few cafe menus and over the course of a year of travelling I became fascinated by the difference between true ceremonial matcha and the grainy, pre-sweetened, bitter powders I too often came across. I looked for it everywhere I went, and the absolute joy when I would find a good quality matcha brought me more happiness than I should admit. It was then I visited the home of matcha, Japan, where I spent three weeks in a matcha bubble, tasting, learning at tea ceremonies and visiting matcha farms.

As a naturopathic nutrition student, I also came to appreciate the powerful health benefits of matcha, which made me fall in love with it even more. Having tried matcha in more than 40 countries, I’ve developed a strong sense for spotting quality and I want others to experience the same.
Chasana is my way of sharing that journey. I’m an Irish native living in Cyprus, working directly with farmers in Uji, Japan, to bring exceptional organic matcha to people all over the world. My goal is simply to make high quality Japanese matcha more accessible, and to spread the knowledge of how to prepare and enjoy this beautiful tea with respect to its roots.
